Various diseases can affect dogs, some of which can cause a lot of discomfort and others that can be fatal.  Fortunately, we can protect our dogs from some of these diseases through dog vaccinations.  Vaccinating your dog is an excellent way to provide them with immunity from some of the worst infectious diseases, and also keep them as safe and healthy as possible.

Here at Woodward Veterinary Practice, we provide dog Vaccinations in Ashby to ensure your dog is protected all year round, providing a range of vaccinations to protect them from most of these terrible diseases.

Vaccinations in Ashby for Puppies

When you get a new puppy, you should start their vaccinations as early as possible so they can start socialising. We normally recommend the first injection at 8 weeks, and the second 2-4 weeks later.  After completing the course, puppies can go for their first walk 10-14 days later.  Completing the course is very important, otherwise maximum protection against diseases cannot be achieved.

What do dog vaccinations in Ashby protect against?

Here at Woodward Veterinary Practice, we have a range of vaccinations to protect your dog from the following diseases:

  • Distemper
  • Hepatitis
  • Leptospirosis

How often are dog vaccinations required?

Under normal circumstances, adult dogs have a vaccination every year.

Annual boosters usually cover leptospirosis and kennel cough which can be given every six months. However, distemper, parvovirus, and canine hepatitis are usually needed every three years. Therefore, a dog would need a vaccine every year to have maximum protection against diseases.

Due to these dog vaccinations requiring a top-up yearly, in order to save you money, we offer health plans, which allow you to pay monthly for your pet's vaccinations. The health plan covers various preventative treatments, including flea treatments, worming treatments, and anal gland expressions.  If you have not already signed up, click here to find out more how you can save £'s with our Pet Health for Life Plan.
