Protect Your Cat's Health with Vet-approved Vaccinations

At Woodward Vets, we specialise in providing cat vaccinations to protect your pet from serious health threats.

Our skilled and caring veterinary team is dedicated to offering professional, compassionate care, ensuring your pet receives the essential vaccines for a long, healthy life.

Conveniently located in Leicester, we make it easy for you to access top-quality veterinary services.

Whether it's your kitten’s first vaccinations or your cat’s annual booster, we're here to support you throughout the process and answer any questions you may have.

We recommend that cat vaccinations be started whilst kittens are young as they only have a small amount of protection from their mothers, which fades away at a young age.

Cat Vaccinations in Leicester: Our Services

At Woodward Vets, we'll tailor our vaccine recommendations based on your cat's lifestyle, risk factors, and latest veterinary guidelines.

Modern vaccines offer protection against multiple diseases with just one or two injections.

Pet vaccines contain harmless (weakened or inactive) versions of viruses and infectious agents. When your cat is vaccinated, its immune system reacts by producing antibodies.

These antibodies provide protection so that if your cat is exposed to the actual disease in the future, it will be able to fight it off effectively.

Booster Vaccines For Stronger Immunity

Vaccinations do not offer lifelong immunity, so regular booster vaccinations are needed to sustain immunity across your cat's lifetime.

If your cat is registered with us, we’ll send reminders when boosters are due, helping you keep your cat’s health on track. This also provides an opportunity for a full health check at the same time.

What Diseases do our Vaccines Protect Against?

  • Cat Flu (Both Feline Herpes Virus and Feline Calicivirus)
  • Feline Infectious Enteritis
  • Feline Leukaemia Virus

Kitten Vaccinations Leicester

We routinely start cat vaccinations from 9 weeks of age for Cat Flu, Enteritis and Feline Leukaemia, with the second injection 3-4 weeks later to complete the course.

Kittens are then fully protected 10-14 days later and are able to venture outside after this time. It is very important to complete the course because otherwise maximum protection against diseases will not be achieved.  We then suggest an annual vaccination.

Cat Vaccinations Leicester FAQs

Why are cat vaccinations necessary?

Vaccinations are essential for providing your cat with adequate protection from life-threatening and debilitating diseases. There is the option of Titre testing, which involves blood samples to determine your cat’s immunity. Unfortunately, this is not always 100% reliable and can be costly to perform. Cats also staying in boarding or cattery facilities are often required to be vaccinated if you're planning to go on holiday.

What happens if you don't vaccinate your cat?

Deciding not to vaccinate runs the risk of your cat contracting various harmful diseases. If you also want to travel with your cat or need them to stay in boarding facilities or catteries, most sites require up to date vaccination status and will not accept unvaccinated animals.

Should you vaccinate an older cat?

As long as your cat is fit and healthy, we would always recommend vaccinations for your cat.

Do indoor cats need vaccinations?

Indoor cats still require vaccines, but this may be a reduced course that only includes cat flu and enteritis. However, many indoor cat owners still have a full vaccination course each year just in case their cat decides to go out exploring!

How much does it cost to vaccinate a cat?

Please contact Woodward Veterinary Practice for more information and how you can join our loyalty discount scheme to spread the cost of any treatment over 12 months.

Can a vet tell if a cat has been vaccinated?

There is no way to tell if a cat has been vaccinated physically; however, if your cat has a vaccination card, previous vet records, or microchip details, our team can look into your cat's history where possible.
