Dental care is a valuable part of your cat's oral care routine. If good oral hygiene is not kept up on a regular basis, periodontal disease will likely recur and cause problems for your pet. Here at Woodward, we recommend regular checkups every six months alongside home dental care.

Cats reach reproductive maturity rapidly; we follow the RSPCA and Cats Protection guidelines recommending neutering both female and male cats around four months of age. Spaying a female cat involves removing their ovaries and uterus. Castrating a male cat involves removing both of their testes.

Microchipping is highly recommended for cats as 100’s of cats go missing each year and are never returned to their owners as they cannot be identified.

A good healthy diet and regular exercise is recommended not only to keep your pets weight under control but to also maintain good dental hygiene.

We recommend that your kitten is wormed every 2 weeks until 12 weeks old, then once per month until 6 months old, then routinely at least every 3 months.

Here at Woodward Vets we strongly encourage owners to have their pets insured, but we are unable to recommend any particular insurance companies or policies. We have a number of leaflets available for different insurance companies.

We recommend that vaccinations are started whilst kittens are young as they only have a small amount of protection from their mothers, which fades away at a young age.
